Giving Thanks

with one comment

you know i have never been one for holidays, for whatever reason they just seem to pass me buy. Its hard for me to get happy around this time, i just don’t care for the commercialism, peoples bad attitudes or the store lines, but since the birth of chloe things have started to change. i am ever so slightly trying to put a smile on my face and trying to undo the scrooge attitude that my family says i have. i must admit at times it is very difficult to let that attitude go, but im trying.

this year i did have fun, one of the first thanksgivings i can truly say i had alot of fun on. and was truly thankful for being with family.

i even woke up looked for the macy’s day parade on the tube, even started to play christmas music. a charlie brown christmas, frank sinatra, and a muppet christmas play this time of the year nonstop around the jay apartment. then we ventured to talia’s moms house, early than we have ever been, i even tried new things. im not one for eating alot of things at thanksgiving usually for me its just turkey, mashed potatoes, a roll, and thats about it.  talia usually gets upset with me cause i don’t eat all the stuffing, yams, gravy, pecan or pumpkin pie. honestly dont ask why thats all i eat. i dont know myself. but i ate yams this year and gravy, so i was proud and so was talia. after the wonderful lunch there we hung around for a couple of hours.

then in the evening we went and had dinner at my moms which was just as great. we ate until we could eat no more. its always so nice to eat at my moms always so nice and small. just us having fun. then after dinner me stuart and reese went outside started playing with some fireworks we had laying around the house. bottle rockets, and fire crackers. there is nothing more fun than lighting 4 bottle rockets at a time holding the bottle in your hand and shooting them up in the air. the cold chill and fireworks.

good times

afterwards it was time to go home and try to recover from the days event.

not a bad day at all.

but i hope that you all had a awesome thanksgiving got really full. and at least took a minute to really think about what you are grateful for.

fingers yazzie

i have to admit something about myself.

im not to sure how many of my friends actually know this about me… but i feel this needs to be told.

im one of those males incapable of putting a drill to a wall and mounting a shelf or being able to put things together without making a mistake. when it comes to things around the house talia is the one to do most things requiring a drill or hammer. for whatever reason i was born without this gene. i have no idea why, for instance when i tried to mount the book shelf, there are so many holes in the wall as of right now it looks like cheese, we put a picture in front of the holes so no one will notice and thank goodness the bookshelf is high so no one sees the holes in the wall. my father was a car mechanic, a very smart man, always working with his hands, you would think it would have passed to me, but when it comes to me doing things with my hands forget it… sure if you need a image extracted from a background, a logo, or a nice grid layout im the person to call.

the reason for this post is because of darrell… the darrell from the previous post, talia’s best friend, and my one and only guy friend i trust to take care of my family if anything ever happened to me. and the one guy friend i can call over to mount a shelf for me. i can see his future now growing old becoming the woodshop teacher in high school only thing instead of wearing those blue levi overalls he’ll be wearing levis and t-shirts, losing a couple of fingers in a saw and becoming “(insert number here) fingers yazzie”.

well for awhile now i have been wanting to put one of those ikea floating shelfs above my desk. i thought it would look cool and i could of course use it for cds, design books and other small things. well knowing i was lacking this handyman gene and being reminded of my last incident with a screwdriver and hammer i decided to call on darrell. he comes over and asks me how high do you want it i tell him i want it here and this high. he says ok. asks for a tape measure, a pencil and goes right to work breaking out with his awesome measuring skills and pencil skills he marks the center, and measures the height of the shelf and starts to make his marks. it takes him one try, to put this thing up. he only had to make three holes to put it up, one for the center and the sides. and to top it off he didnt even have a level to see if it was straight, he used a glass of water and a round wheel from chloe’s toys. and thats that.

so as i sit here and look above at this dope shelf mounted by darrell, and hearing talia remark, this looks so perfect there are no marks on the wall, no extra pencil marks, no extra holes just a nicely mounted shelf. i cant help but think.

thank you darrell. thank you for your awesome drilling skills and marking skills.

and thanx for being sober while you mounted it!

you truly are an awesome frined.

halloween 08

this halloween was actually pretty slow, its seemed that not alot of people were passing out candy, but im sure that the economy has something to do with that and the fact it fell on a friday. or it could have been the neighborhood who knows. all i know is it was fun, we had friends and family at the apartment, had some food and watched some zombie movies. i used works digital olympus 500e camera to shoot the night. i still have alot of pictures to go through and decide which i like. but here are some of them ill post the others when i get around to editing and uploading.

this is darrell and talia, i have known darrell for about 8 years, talia longer they are best friends and have known each other for years, sometimes it feels like forever. they went to preschool together Talia was kind enough to correct me and tell me they attended gradeschool together,  but still they didn’t know each other. well we were at the house hanging out.

walking around trick-or-treating. i thought it was funny how chloe was walking with us, following us… when she walks she reminds me of a peanuts charactor.

reese my nephew as freddy kruger… im not even sure this kid has seen a nightmare on elm street. he loves scary movies and horror but would not even venture across the street to go into the haunted house we usually  go into.

a front shot of chloe walking around. i like this foto.

some kid dressed up as the burger king for halloween… im not sure if it is just me but the king scares the crap out of me. i used to love burger king as a kid, but now not so much. its to weird and gross to me.

and some kid as chucky, i wanted his picture cause i knew it would look dope in B&W. he was kinda sad he didnt look scary to us, i said youll look awesome in B&W i showed him and he was pleased.

well thats it for now…

and i didnt take no election photos this year, but i did take pictures of family after we voted so those will come too… sooner or later. hope all is well in your part of the world…
