Ballet Under The Stars.

I have always been a fan of the ballet. for one I find the music beautiful and then the dancing is captivating. Last night we spent the night in Phoenix at the Ballet Under The Stars. Which was nice even though a storm rolled through and made everyone flee for there vehicles.
Chloe my daughter has been taking classes at the School of Ballet Arizona which is why my wife Talia volunteered at the school booth selling snacks, while me Chloe and Taliaโ€™s mom watched the performances. Well I was able to snap a couple of photos. I actually went behind the stage and took these. I wish I was able to get closer but didnโ€™t want to disturb the crowd. so I made do with what I had.

  1. How fun. Reminds me of my days as a ballet dancer, taking over the stage and captivating the audience. Of course, I was eight, and the girl next to me had just peed her pants from stage fright and my little sister was the chubbiest bear who didn’t remember any moves. Memorable, nonetheless.

  2. Awesome photos!! I live in Phoenix and LOVE Ballet Arizona’s “Ballet Under the Stars.” ๐Ÿ™‚ I even used to take classes from their school. So glad this got Freshly Pressed and both your photos, and their talents, got some exposure!

  3. Beautiful! And graceful. I’d like to learn ballet.. it’s so sad, but at twenty, I already feel too old to try.
Great photos, the black and white is classic.

  9. Lovely photos, James. Congrats on the Freshly Pressed.

And to aunaqui–I am about to start up again at the age of 41–you’re never too old for ballet. If you can’t find a class, search for the VHS/DVD “Balletcise” with Marguerite Porter. EXCELLENT for beginners.

    1. Thank you for the comments and it has been very cool being Freshly Pressed.

and I agree about not being to old to sign up!

  10. Your photos are absolutely dream-like. I really enjoy watching ballet.
A ballet under the stars… I wish I could have been there to experience it first-hand.

    1. Thank You so much for the comment. It was different than watching it inside. As I said the storm was very crazy though. But still a great time.

    1. Thanks. It is a good way to expose people to the ballet that otherwise would not have been exposed to it.

    1. This is my daughters first year she started during the summer and she absolutely loves it.
I think it has done her really good to participate in the training. She is always excited when she goes and when it is over.

  11. Wonderful pictures! I love how the dancers pop off the stage in black and white, they are very classic and elegant.

  12. Nice pictures! I love dance and dancing and anything and everything related to dance (I’ve been dancing seriously since I was 10). It’s amazing the effort that goes into something that looks so simple, so you can imagine the effort that goes into making something extremely hard look effortless. Congrats on making Freshly Pressed!

    1. Thank you. It is insane how much dancers in general have to train to be good at what they do. It is wonderful that they do this for themselves but also for our enjoyment.

  13. Beautiful pictures. I adore seeing ballet; can imagine it being even more captivating under the stars.

I have been to the Shakespeare Globe and watched Othello, not quite under the stars but it brought us to Dusk… was pretty beautiful

    1. It was a nice change to see it outside.

I can’t wait for next years. I think seeing any performance outside really opens people up and makes them more aware of things, so it totally changes our perspective.

      thanx again for the comment.

      – james

    1. I totally agree with you on your comment. The Black and white really breaks it down to the simple forms.

      thank you for looking.
